Elicited from behind the stove

In his hometown Lienz (Austria) Alban Lakata had been apprenticed to be a „Hafner“, or stove builder. Later he added a qualification as one of austrian‘s best sounding job titles: „Lehrwart für allgemeine Körperausbildung“, or in short physical education trainer. Quite a set of impressive sounding decorations for a young man! But during a holiday at the beautiful Lago du garda in 2000, Alban caught the MTB bug and finally traded his stoves for a mountainbike

and began collecting even better sounding titles. Austrian Marathon Champion 2004 for example, which also made his sporting breakthrough. After a lot of national and international titles and places, Alban finally led the Marathon World Series ranking. He continues to be successful, becoming european marathon champion and leader of the UCI world ranking. We were very happy to pull Alban from behind the stove to joining the Topeak Ergon Racing Team in 2009.
